Our Team
Born and raised in the small farm community of Sloan, IA, Kris has over twenty (20) years of professional experience in client services, consulting and financial planning. He earned degree(s) in both Finance and Marketing from the University of Colorado.
After getting started in the industry with a national regional firm, Kris was one of the founding members of Siouxland Investment Group in 2009 before forming Westergaard Wealth Management. He is a Certified Financial Planner Professional ™ , CFP ®, and an Accredited Estate Planner, AEP ®. Kris is an active member of the Financial Planning Associations of Iowa and Nebraska as well as the Siouxland Estate Planning Council.
Kris is passionate about providing comprehensive financial planning for the families he serves. Using advanced software such as Envestnet’s Money Guide Pro ™ and Yodlee ™, he is able to piece together a ‘big picture” written financial plan tailored specifically to anyone’s particular situation. It is NOT unusual for Kris to quote Dave Ramsey’s common sense approach to money in general including the ”baby steps”. Kris is proud to be a member of a military family.
When Kris is not helping his clients better their financial lives, he enjoys travelling and working on the century family farm outside of Sloan with his wife, Iowa Air National Guard CMSgt Michelle Westergaard . He manages the family farms in Sloan, Whiting, and Onawa.
Susan, a native of Logan, IA, is a client services specialist with Westergaard Wealth Management. Assisting clients with various account activities and initial onboarding are a couple of her regular responsibilities. As of part of Siouxland Investment Group for 7 years previously, her experience is vital to the firm. Prior to her joining the financial services industry, she managed the HR department of a major national retail chain.
Susan has been married to her husband, Tom, for over 20 years. She has three children, two stepsons, and ten grandchildren with whom her and Tom love spending time.
Susan enjoys gardening, quilting, crocheting, scrapbooking, and fishing. Tom and Susan also enjoy spending their leisure time at their Spirit Lake home.
Sean is a current intern with Westergaard Wealth Management as he finishes up his senior year at Iowa State University where he is majoring in financial planning. He is a member of the Iowa Financial Planning Association.
Serving as a Staff Sergeant in the Iowa Air National Guard’s 185th refueling wing, Sean knows the value of dedication and commitment. He recently just returned from a 6 month deployment to Jordan.
